Today I’d like to share a fun sketch with you. I designed a frame like page effect for you to use:

For my sketch today I decided not to include any photos and just have fun with paper and ink instead.

Included in my design I used “Letterboxes” and “Funky Alphabet” to create my jumbled title. I used the tag and postage canceling images from the “Road Trip” stamp set. The “traveling by” checklist is from the “Passport to Adventure” stamp set. I used the “Neighborhoods” landscape at the top for my city scape image. I used the number stamp from the “Review Time” set to create my list. And finally I used the camera, photo corners and film strip images from the “Snapshot” stamp set.

Hope you are enjoying wonderful spring weather! We finally have nice weather in Belgium. It’s so welcome as it has been raining or grey sky during the past 3 weeks, yikes! Oh well, it was perfect weather to scrap.

I made a layout about a buggy tour we did on vacation in the Dominican Republic. We had an amazing time and were covered with mud when arrived back at the hotel. We saw amazing nature, beautiful beaches, drank coconut milk, …

The stamp set Road Trip was perfect for this layout!

This calendar is also supposed to help me remember people dear to my heart to whom I’d love to wish birthday wishes. So I’ve printed their names and dates on copy paper, cut it in stripes and adhered over some stamped images along with one small picture of one of the birthday persons. Here, obviously, it’s my daughter! Along with snow flakes from Let it Snow! set.

Next up is my son. The other day, my kids were playing with my inks and stamped with pads directly on paper. Then my son doodled something over the squares and it looked gorgeous! So I took his idea, stamped colors from his tee and stamped also some robots from Programmed Robots set! Frankly, after I did this page I didn’t want to move forward unless making all other pages with the same technique! Finally, I overcame this tentation but not entirely. To be continued…

For the April page I was inspired by the proverb “April showers bring May flowers”. And clear embossed a cloud from Wishing you Sunshine set and then colored rain drops with markers in rainbow colors. Stamping Cherry Blossoms from the new set was a breeze and a pleasure!

My birthday is in May and I even have a not very old picture of myself with my daughter! It was a nice occasion to print it! And since it’s quite rare, I used the camera from Snapshot set to underline this fact!

Another page without any picture! And with only one birthday date!!! I’ve added a simple but nice stamping technique: first, I’ve stamped some flowers from Abundant Blossoms in white, let them dry and second I’ve overstamped with butterflies from Colorful Companions set. The flowers are gently peeking from under butterflies, here’s a detail shot:

Next up is the July page with my nephew’s picture. I used the stamp from Road Trip set – this sweet boy and his family will be going away soon after plus it’s the usual vacation month. So this “bon voyage” stamp was very “à propos”!

In August, in Switzerland we’re celebrating our country’s foundation day, there are always tons of fireworks! Hence the stars (Back to the Basics set) in all the colors of the rainbow! And my favorite technique of the moment – multi color heat embossing!

September is the back-to-school month by definition so I’ve stamped the whole alphabet from Summer Alpha set after first aligning each and every letter on my cutting mat. I liked the effect so much that I’ve stamped the alphabet on copy paper for my kids to play with. Some more ideas are coming…

We’re skipping one month and going straight to November. In Polish, my mother-tongue, it means literally “falling leaves”. So here they are (from Floating Leaves set), white embossed and stamped over with ink pads directly to paper! I told you I liked it!

A little close up for you to appreciate the look! After stamping with pads, I’ve smeared ink with my fingers which made those leaves pop a bit more.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this “trash-to-treasure” post and understand now why I’m sort of proud of saving us some money on buying another DIY calendar. But I might spend some more for next year! Yes, stamping is dangerous so beware!

But first things first, here is a little bit about Jona:

Hi myStamp BOX fans!, I am a working mom  with a 6yr old preschooler and married for 7 years to my adorable husband.  He is the photographer and I am the record keeper in the family.  He lovingly supports my scrapbooking addiction and criticize them and help me improve my craft. I am first a baker and cake artist who loves to create beautiful wedding cakes before scrapbooking took over my life. I am also a certified open water diver and it is through this hobby I met my handsome.

Where you grew up? – I grew up in Antipolo City, Philippines.

How long have you been scrapbooking?  I have been scrapbooking for 5 yrs now  although,  I started old school scrapbooking since I was in college. Cutting newspapers and magazines to add in my albums.

What got you started? I started before my son turns 1 yr old. there’s a group of Filipina Scrapbookers who invited me to join their crop and from then on, there’s no looking back.

What are you favorite subject? My favorite subject of course is my son and my three nephews.
What materials / projects do you go back again and again? buttons,  ribbons and flowers. yes,  I do add  flowers in my boy pages!

Describe your style -  Well, describing my style would really be difficult for me. There are times I tend to be clean and simple and sometimes shabby chic with lots of layers and texture.

Have you been published? I have been published in online magazines like Scrap n Art,  Scrapbytes  and Scrapbook news and review.

What is your crafting routine?  I usually scrap at night  after work. Scrapbooking is my stress buster  and it makes me more creative when I am stressed at work. My craft space is a corner of our room with a tiny table and 6 layer shelves. I always purge my stuff and try to buy things I know  I can consume in a year.

Tag Tutorial:
1.  Mist your tag using foam dots negative.
2. Stamp the postage and you are here stamps.
3. Stamp the image in a scrap paper and cut out to be used as an embellishment.
4. Adhere the postage stamp,  border made from scraps  and the stamped image using foam dots.
5. Add a brad and the tag is ready as embellishment in a lay-out  or gift packaging tag.

Wendy here to share up a beautiful Color Challenge for you!

I find a lot of inspiration in color, patterns, and beautiful quotes….over at Pinterest.  This color challenge I picked up over there with some beautiful palettes & images linked up in this post.  I live near the beach (only 30 min+ to be exact) so the color of the ocean is just so soothing & relaxing. I also love purple and lilacs are one loveliest of flowers (in my opinion) along with orchids (I likey like too) and roses….ok, yep, I love flowers. (wink wink)

So, using this inspiration & some fabulous myStampBOX stamps, here’s my color challenge project share -

“Go. Go. Go. See”

12×12 Layout

Now for some details…

A few months back, Canvas Corp so generously blog hopped with us on the myStampBOX design team.  Unfortunately, I was out of town on vacation to NYC and couldn’t do the hop but was itching to use these super cool mini canvas shapes on a project – i.e. hearts, circles, ATCs – so many possibilities!!  So, I used these with some Ranger Distress Stain + water to create the effect on these canvas shapes.  I just love the watercolor & splotchy effect to them.  Also, I used the myStampBOX set, Seal It, on the corner of the canvas heart.  I stamped it using Staz-On black ink.  The peek of embossed metal tin you see I embossed with my Big Shot Sizzix machine + embossing template + metal tin foil.

On a side note, these photos are inspired from my travels – NOLA (New Orleans), Italy (Torino), and Florida (Destin)….love travel and to “go go go see” the world…near & far.

Here I also used the Ranger Distress Stain + water again along with a heat tool and some parts of this I just allowed to air dry.  Such a beautiful & dreamy effect.  Stamped up with Seal It and Road Trip stamps.  Also, I accented with some coordinating bling, brads, and clear dewdrops.

Using some large chipboard letters (deep in my stash – ha!) along with some different colors of mist in blue & purple for the effect on this page.  Stamped (“you are here”) above the mini photo with the set Road Trip.  I repeated the “go go” with the alpha set, Rough Copy.  Such a fun alpha set you can leave as outlined or color/fill in.

Wendy here with a project share for you today using quite a stash of mSB stamps!

I’m always inspired by my travels {even when a “bit” of work is involved}…I have a major love for travel and I think airplanes are one of the best inventions everrrrrr because I absolutely LOVE flying {even when there are layovers, delays, yada yada, but I’ve been quite fortunate in this way…[insert crossing fingers] – wink wink}.  With a passport almost full of stamps + a couple of great pilots jetting across the Atlantic = freedom to see the world.

With this project share, I used several versatile & fabulous mSB stamps sets on this layout “Jetset”.  One thing {ok, I love several things} about mSB stamps but I love using lots of details and mSB definitely delivers in the images.

Now here are a few close ups….

Here I used the Friday Night Stencil set to repeat the title.  Just a great stencil stamp set!

How cool is the stitching with the Repeat After Me set?!  I usually like to break out the sewing machine but I took an oath to self to stick to the “stamped stitching” and loveeeeee how this turned out.  I stamped the zig zag stitch about three times randomly here to add a bit of randomness and some “doodle stitching” with a black journal pen.

In the top left corner, I used the Seal It set.  Love the circle seals and star from this set.  Also, in the bottom right corner, I used the “handle with care” stamp from Road Trip.  I love layering lots of details along with textures, stamps (of course), labels, and rubons, etc….

Another of my fav mSB sets is “Bold Blocks”.  The “date” block stamp is from this set.  ”You are here” is from Road Trip.  I mixed these stamps in along with some colored rubons.

So, I’m a HUGE fan of mini books and with the stash of mSB stamps, seriously just amazingggg coolness, I decided to create up this mini, “Our Love Soars”.  I wanted to go outside the normal colors of pink for loveeeee and went with a play on different colors with red & blue.

Beware:  Photo heavy….since I’ll show you how I worked the different mSB stamps inside along with all the fun fun details & pages throughout this mini.  I usually work lots of stamps in my minis’.  I LOADED this mini up with a big dose of mSB eye candy!!!

A tidbit about this book….My boyfriend, Gianluca, & I have been together for a little over a year.  He’s Sicilian and lives still in Italy (Turin, Italy).  “Our Love Soars” across the distance of 2 continents, across that big ocean of the Atlantic, 2 different languages, many flights, many long hours on those flights, many miles (or kilometers)…yet it’s all worth it, he’s so worth it. “Our Love Soars” in bringing us together in many parallels.

Now, I (Marsha) also had a song to inspire me. You know: the kind of song that you hear on the radio and then stays with you all day or (in this case) all week? When I was thinking of our theme ‘Baby, Be Mine’, I had the Bob Marley song ‘Is this Love’ stuck in my head. I had to take it as a sign and started to create my project around it!

I created my funky fabric flowers using the myStamp BOX Funky Flowers set to stamp on denim with StazOn inks. I then cut the stamped flowers and leaves out and machine stitched them onto hand-cut pieces of felt. I used cardstock and another piece of felt to create the grass. The flower stems are stamped directly onto the photo mat.

I took the glass from the shadow box frame (Ribba from IKEA) and stamped part of the lyrics on the outside of the glass with myStamp BOX Mini Alpha using StazOn inks. I used the same inks to stamp the swirl from the Funky Flowers set onto the inside of the glass.

The photo I placed in the frame is one of my favorites that I took during a (table top) photography class. It features two figurines that have been in my possession since childhood!

What’s masking you ask? Well in art, masking is using materials to protect areas from change.  In other words you cover one area to avoid changing it by applying something over top of it.

Today I’m going to show you some fun ways to mask and create some fun patterns.  Let’s begin…

I’ve had this idea floating (no pun intended… LOL!) around in my head for weeks.  I wanted to create a fun fishy shape and stamp all of his scaly details.  So I designed a cute little fishy image in my cutting machine design software and then cut it out in pieces; a fish body, 2 fins, a large eye ball and a tail piece.

Fish have scales… it’s the first thing you think of when you think of fish and I knew the Funky Circles stamp set was PERFECT for stamping scales so I grabbed that set and some bright orange ink to start.

In order to create that scaly look, I needed some simple masks.  So I stamped a few of the circles that I was going to use as scales onto the sticky part of a Post-It Note and cut them out.

Then I created another fast mask to cover the head of the fish so I didn’t ink it up.  I again, used a simple Post-It Note paper and cut a curve into into it to mimic the curve of the fish’s body.

Then I inked up my little circle stamp and began carefully stamping along the edge of the mask.  I wanted to ensure that the outer ring of the circles touched each other.

Then I took my mini circle masks and carefully placed them over top of my already stamped circles.  I took my inked up circle stamp again and carefully positioned them in between each pair of touching circles to create the scale detail.

I continued on until the end of my fishy was all scaly!   A super duper easy way to mask!

I also wanted another scalloped circle detail at the bottom of my focal panel on my card.  So I marked on my card front where the bottom edge of the panel was going to go using a light pencil line.  I then found the center of the focal panel and marked it on the line. I placed a Post-It Note at either end of the line to mark off the edge of the panel going up.

I then drew a light pencil line below that line to ensure I didn’t stamp any farther down on the card front.  Then stamped my first circle using the pencil marks as my guidelines.  Since the tops of the circles are hidden under the front panel I didn’t bother masking this part of the stamping off.

I continued my stamped circles all along the pencil line and down to the Post-It Note masks to create my scalloped border.

And once again… here’s my final card.

BITE ME

I also used the “ME” from the She Says – He Says stamp set, the Funky Alphabet for the word “bite”, the Funky Flowers set for his fin and tail details and the Backgrounds stamp set as a subtle back drop for my fish.

I took the same techniques again and applied it to another little fishy and came up with this card…

I again used the Funky Circles to create his scale detail.

I then used the Funky Flowers set for his fin and tail detail and also the for swirly water details behind him.  The little tag is from the Road Trip set and the alphabets are from the Mini Alpha stamp set.

I hope that you too will pull out some masking supplies and create a fun and simple card the next time you’re stamping.   I hope that you’ve learned something new today and I hope you use this simple and easy masking technique soon!

Jill, here, with some fabulous inspiration coming from…….what else……..FOOD!!!!

I know…..we all love it…..we crave it…….we consume it; we buy it; we even hide it on occassion – not me though.   

So what better inspiration to use?!?

The first layout I created this month was inspired by a “food” photo.  It’s a photo taken in Disney World this past January of two of my kids.   I used the Snapshot and the Wishing You Sunshine stamp sets.

For the second layout I create, I drew inspiration from an image of food that I found via the internet.  I loved the softness of the photo; the colours; the textures; and the little, green butterfly.

And from that, I created this:  Mulan

I used the Colorful Companions and the Road Trip stamp sets.  I also used a fabulous butterfly die cut from one of our partner companies: Magistical Memories.

I stamped the butterflies on the layout with Versa Mark ink and pop-dotted punched butterflies around them for dimension — i love how the lime green little butterflies add a little punch to the page.  I used hydranga coloured dye ink to colour the naked chipboard butterfly.  I cut the scroll off the left-hand side of the butterfly and pop-dotted it onto the right-hand side scroll, giving dimension to the chipboard as well.  Check out the original chipboard image from Magistical Memories {here}.  There are so many fun & gorgeous images to choose from.

Usually I scrap pictures of family, friends and special occasions, but for today’s post I decided to scrap some pictures my husband took during a day at the beach, not a special day… just a normal day at the beach.

Here’s the layout I did:

For my title I used my Rough Copy Alphabet set and stamped my title vertical slightly overlapping the letters.

I also added little accents with brown ink, for this one I used my Funky Flowers set.

And here I used my Road Trip set and my circle punch.

I think it’s really important to scrap pictures of ourselves, what do you think?

Here are areas that inspired me to use all kinds of myStamp BOX stamps on this layout…

These “male gender” symbols are from the He Says – She Says stamp set.  Notice I stamped on the chipboard star from one of our Preferred Partners, Magistical Memories using the new Backgrounds stamp set too.

I added this fun tag detail using the Road Trip set…

I made a cluster of stamped images in between my two photos.  I used the new netted star from the Back to Basics set, layering it with the male symbol from She Says – He Says stamp set.  The fun arrow and the seal are from the Road Trip set.

I knew I wanted to hide a little bit of hidden message inside my star chipboard so I took a subtle blue and then a green ink and stamped the “YOU” from the She Says – He Says set right over top of my patterned paper.  Then I created my layered title using two different alphabet sets, Funky Alphabet and Royal Flush.

I also used the equals sign (=) from the She Says – He Says to create the look of a strip of lined green paper.  It’s amazing the designs you can make with simple stamps!

In order to add some journaling to my page I used the journaling tag stamp from Just Add Notes set.  The circle stamp is from the fun Funky Circles set and the date block stamp is from the  Bold Blocks set.

I wanted to create some fun visual effects using circles so I pulled out my Funky Circles stamps and incorporated them with my Lots of Numbers set.  My son is five so that’s the significance of the number.

One final touch was the addition of the corrugated cardboard stamp from the new Backgrounds stamp set plus a cute little star from the Review Time set to complete the look.

I had a ball creating this layout.  So many details and SO much fun to create!  All in all, I ended up using ELEVEN different stamp sets!  Yup… ELEVEN!!

Today we’re going to go on a little Road Trip where travel has actually nothing to do with it!!

Are you confused yet?? Good!

I want to share with you a layout that I created using the “Road Trip” stamp set and Royal Flush. When I looked at the stamps in the Road Trip collection I was immediately drawn to the tags and thought of using them for a banner to make my title. So I stamped the image several times and cut each one out.  I lightly inked the edges, punched a small hole at the top of each tag and then attached an eyelet to finish off the tag.

I then used the Royal Flush alphabet stamps and stamped my title letters on another colored cardstock in a wonderful dark turquoise color ink. I used a circle punch and punched out each letter and then adhered them to the tags using pop dots. I strung the tags onto a piece of twine and fastened the ends with a brad on either side of the layout.

I continued using Road Trip stamp set to stamp the circle image “handle with care” in turquoise ink onto 2 large office tags.  After the ink had dried I then printed my journaling on each tag. Inked the edges and added them to my layout. I also used that same circle stamp design for an added embellishment to my page.  However, the center of that image there is a boat and I really didn’t want that to be seen so I covered it up by adding a punched out red heart overtop.

I’m thrilled with how it turned out!

For the banner I used the O Christmas tree set. I embossed the trees with white embossing powder and then I turned them around and make a banner. It was so much fun and I think the banner turned out great!

I also used the Funky Flowers set to stamp some butterflies and the lines in my journaling

Finally I used my Road trip stamp set to add little accents to the LO like the one on the hidden journaling and here below.

Today I’m going to show you how to make some quick gift tags for your presents. Remember that christmas is just around the corner…

To do this tags you will need:

• Your favorite myStampBOX stamps. I used my Colorful Companions, Tree for all seasons and Road trip sets.
• Inking pads
• Tags
• Ribbon
• Scraps of paper

Use your Tree for all Seasons set and stamp the tree with black or brown ink. I stamped it on one side of the tag to make the design more interesting.

Use your green ink and stamp the leaves

Stamp a butterfly on white cardstock, cut it out.

Create a pattern in the green cardstock. I used one stamp from the Road Trip set.

Hand cut the grass

Stamp your sentiment on one side of the tag

And then attach all the embellishments to the tag. To attach the butterfly add one rolled glue dot under each wing to give some dimension.

Add some ribbon and maybe some circles to add a little color and summery feel.

Today I’d like to share some fun autumn related projects I have made to both put in my scrapbooks, give as gifts and also to hang on my walls.

I started off by celebrating the first day of my son going to Kindergarten for the full day.  I captured him all dressed and ready for school on his first full day of school and thought it would make a great layout to share with you!

Ready 4 School

For this layout, I used some non-school themed stamps to add those special touches.  I used some of the postage stamp canceling images from the Road Trip stamp set and the school related stamp set from Neighborhoods, of course!

Next I wanted to create a fun card caddy to give to my son’s teacher around Thanksgiving; which is next week here in Canada.  So I found a 6×6x1 acetate container to use as my card caddy and then I decorated the front…

Autumn Card Caddy

For the front, I used some autumn inspired papers from Imaginisce as the starting point for my colour palette of light orange, rich red, dark brown and a pop of dusty blue.  I stamped the tree with coloured leaves from the Tree For All Seasons set and than added a fun tag using the Itty Bittys (the wood grain stamp) and Small Greetings for the sentiment.

I created one card to put inside my caddy too!  I used the pretty little leafy branch from the Floating Leaves set to decorate the front oval.  Doesn’t it look great with that similarly patterned paper?

And here’s the back of the little card caddy… using the simple leaf shape from the Floating Leaves set again.

Next I wanted to create something autumn related for my door.  So I grabbed some fabric and created a stuffed fabric ring and wrapped it with some soft satin brown ribbon and tied it at the bottom.

Fall Wreath

To decorate my wreath, I stamped a variety of leaves from the Floating Leaves stamp set onto the autumn patterned papers and then cut them all out.  I adhered each leaf using the amazing Professional Acid Free Glue from Helmar Adhesives, one of our extremely generous partner companies.   Each leaf is securely attached but flexes with the fabric.  I’m so impressed by this great glue!

And the final autumn inspired project that I have created to share with you today is a fun welcome sign to hang on my door as the happy haunting season begins for Halloween in a few weeks.

Batty Welcome Banner

I started off my using some black embossing powder and heat embossing the entire surface of that super cute bat chipboard piece by our newest partner company, Magistical Memories.  A few sprays of glittery mist to add some sparkle didn’t hurt either!

I strung a bunch of Halloween colour inspired banner pieces from our newest stamp set here at myStampBOX, Pennants (soon to be released!).  I added some fun Halloween themed stamps from our BOO! set to the tops of some of the banner pieces to add to the holiday theme.

I then used my Funky Alphabet stamp set and created a fun “welcome” statement to hang below my glittery bat.  The title appears to float below because I used some of my “recycled” stamp backer acetate pieces from all of my myStampBOX stamp sets and adhered the hand cut letters using Helmar’s fabulous Scrap Dots and black foam adhesive circles called Zapdots to it and then attached it off of the back of the chipboard bat.

I coloured the inside of all of my funky alphabet letters using some coordinating Copic marker colours to match my pennant pieces.
