Today I’d like to share a fun sketch with you. I designed a frame like page effect for you to use:

For my sketch today I decided not to include any photos and just have fun with paper and ink instead.

Included in my design I used “Letterboxes” and “Funky Alphabet” to create my jumbled title. I used the tag and postage canceling images from the “Road Trip” stamp set. The “traveling by” checklist is from the “Passport to Adventure” stamp set. I used the “Neighborhoods” landscape at the top for my city scape image. I used the number stamp from the “Review Time” set to create my list. And finally I used the camera, photo corners and film strip images from the “Snapshot” stamp set.

The top border was stamped using Timelines and Graphic Borders. I like inking with several ink pads for a fun, multicolor look. The journaling card was stamped with sentiments from Passport to Adventure. I decided to change up the Bingo card from a recent Crate paper collection by making my own title. I stamped the word Epcot using the Lots of Dots alphabet and then trimmed around each circle using some (old!) deckle scissors. A large piece of sanded Core’dinations cardstock adds extra texture to the background, too. I hope you enjoyed my layout!

My bestie from Saskatchewan came to visit us with her hubby and two kids, so we planned a mini-vacation to take them to see the sights of Ontario.  Because our children are close in age, we thought it would be fun to create a mini travel journal for each family and combine our photos and stories to add to each other’s journals so we could share the memories!

I used 9×12 manilla envelopes, white cardstock, and various inserts for my pages.  I decorated the front and back with patterned paper and using the Passport to Adventure, Seal It! and Mini Pennants stamps sets, I stamped and embossed images using various ink colours.  I attached cancelled stamps that I had in my stash and clear glitter stickers.  I punched three holes in the spine and threaded double strands of jute through and  bound it all together.

I’ll be sure to share the finished project when it’s done!

When I was working on some projects using Kiki Art papers, I came upon a cute purple sheet from the Family Collection and decided to give purple a try…

This is what I did: I cut up the sheet into stripes and small squares. The cute images lead to a family related theme and were perfect for my childhood bath time pictures. I complimented the images on the right hand strip with cars from the “Passport to Adventure” stamp set and the outside of the layout with words from the same set. The title is stamped with “Rustic Outlines”.

This definitely was a challenging layout for the colours that I chose, but I am quite happy with the outcome. It’s fun to try something out of your comfort zone ever so often!

What colour combos do you find difficult to use?

Last week I made this layout and stamped three leaves from the “Floating Leaves” set on white cardstock. I used yellow, red and green inks. Then I poked around the leaves to make the stitching easier and finally used coordinating thread to sew around the leaf shapes. Then the leaves were cut out and popped up with Helmar Liquid Pop Dots. The paper is from Kiki Art, another of our partner companies. The words are from the the “Passport to Adventure”.

After punching out the little blue accent flowers, I had some left and created a card with them – simple but pretty. The sentiment is form “Everyday Lines”.

Hope you liked my stitching idea. It works for all types of stamps, solid and outline. To decorate a solid stamp, stitch around it!

I made the card base from embossed Core’dinations cardstock, one of our preferred product partners. Honestly, I could use this stuff on every project! My scrappy pal and I chat on instant messenger often, so I thought she’d enjoy this silly sentiment from the Whatever set of stamps.

I also made some fun notes to slip into my sons’ lunch boxes. I printed simple sentiments onto white cardstock and then stamped with a variety of images from myStampBOX. I stamped some with colored ink, and for others I stamped in black and colored in the images with markers. After inking the edges of the cards I laminated them for durability.

I had fun mixing and matching images from six different sets of myStampBOX stamps on these cards including Passport to Adventure, He Loves Me, Seal It!, Programmed Robots, Itty Bittys and Wishing You Sunshine.

I also made a few lunch box notes with Halloween images from the Boo! set of stamps. I’m so happy that October is here – I use this set so much! I hope you find fun ways to use your stamps in ways that make you and the special people in your life happy. Enjoy your stamping!

When it comes to summertime in our family, we think of camping.  Since I was a young girl, my family always camped a few times a summer somewhere in Ontario.  So when my husband suggested we find ourselves a little Boler trailer to camp in, I was in whole heartedly!

So after much searching and a little bit of good luck and good timing, we managed to get our hands a little cream and gold Boler trailer…

My husband has been hard at work fixing up for us to use.  Since I knew we would taking our little “golden home on wheels” on vacation this summer, I thought I would make a cute little journal that I would keep in a safe place in the trailer for all of us to document it’s travels.

I first designed this simplified Boler type trailer shape using my Klic N’Kut software and then I cut a series of pages and a couple of thin chipboard covers…

I started creating my mini album by decorating the covers.  I cut out a cream page for both my front and back covers and then I applied a “map” patterned paper bottom and a charcoal grey cardstock body divider.

To decorate the cream part of the trailer body, I used my trusty Road Trip stamp set and some inks that matched the colours of my patterned paper “map” base.

For my first inside page, I wanted to create an area where I would write where we traveling to, who was there with me and how we were traveling.  I used some of the fabulous stamps from the Passport to Adventure and Snapshot stamp sets to achieve this.

Then I proceeded to create each double page spreadt…

Each double page set is slightly different…

I incorporated whatever stamp images that I associated with traveling…

I even stamped some camera images… you never leave for vacation without your camera!!!

Each page I managed to use the same ink colours (just tints and tones of the same 4 inks) but never quite the same stamp combinations…

No two page spreads are the same!  It’s so much better that way!  I left the centers of the page open and unstamped so I could either attach a photo or journal about our trip.

I even managed to use my Review Time stamp set by using the word “Travel”.

And finally, I had to include a simple pocket at the end to save any neat items like brochures or random photos to go along with the journal.

I used the Review Time stamp again to add some more journaling type details to the final page.

This month I chose to showcase the new “Passport to Adventure” set. Once again, Bettina has designed a set that works with other MSB sets, which means you get more for your money.

You can use this set for your own travel as I did on this layout, which commemorates a first airplane flight…

Or, for a card to wish someone well on an upcoming adventure of their own…

For this card I used the Passport to Adventure set with the “Splash me alot” alphabet. I wanted the card to look like one of those distressed, old suitcases with the travel stickers all over it….and I think the look was accomplished. I even snuck in a sun from the new “Wishing You Sunshine” set.

Once again, mixing and matching is our theme of the day : )

Step by Step Distressing

• Take your tags and wrinkle them up in your hands
• Spray Tags with Coffee Spray and dry with heat tool
• Spray Tags with Brass Spray and dry with heat tool
• Continue Spraying Tags with different colors till you get the look that you like
• Once dry take you Distress Ink and brush against tag highlighting the wrinkles you put in it.
• Stamp as desired

Using Different size tags and other items as I listed above and continue to distress to your liking to create a cute embellishment, card or mini album.   Below is my mini tag album that I made using the steps above.

My Stamp Box Designer

I’d like to show some cards that I made when I played with the “Border Lines” set the other day. I call this series of cards “one thing leads to another”, because I started with one card and that inspired me to do the next and so on…

I started with one stamp that is a long skinny border and stamped it repeatedly onto a white card. Then I added a few buttons and this gave me the idea to use buttons as “flower heads”.

Here are the buttons used as flower heads, I added leaves (some are popped up with pop dots) and stitched a frame around the composition. This inspired me to do a “proper” flower:

This card uses the same stitched frame, but also the stem is stitched and only the petals and leaves are stamped.

For this last card I used the arrow stamp for the stem and added petals. A button marks the centre and a scrap piece of paper adds more volume to the flower. Hope you like the cards and my creative process throughout this series.
