I missed a family birthday this week, so I worked extra hard to create a fabulous card to make it up to my Aunt Janet. I stamped the largest butterfly from the Colorful Companions set using Tim Holtz distress inks: two shades of red and black. I love how you can blend ink colors right onto bold images like this one before you stamp. The look is so cool!

This card is night and day in its overall look from my first example. I stamped the woodgrain block from the Itty Bittys set onto kraft paper to make a border. I also stamped the sentiment and dotted square frame from Itty Bittys as well. These “inchie” size stamps are small but mighty! I can’t get enough of them.

The inspiration for the first project I created comes from this advertisement I found in a home decor magazine: a black & white collage with a little splash of red:

I created this card using lots of black & white & a little red and stamps from “Colorful Companions” (the butterfly), “En Cette Occasion” (the sentiment) and “Seal It!” (the little heart). The butterfly is heat embossed with some white embossing powder. Love it!!

Then the second advertisement I used, is this one:

What attracted me to this advertisement are many things: the design, the many details, the colours….,  well everything really.

I created this layout of my daughter and tried to capture the same carefree atmosphere of the photo above, using stamps from “Abundant Blossoms” (flowers), “Road Trip” (the suitcase, the stamp, the seal) and “Snapshot” (the photo camera and expression).

And then last but not least this advertisement caught my eye:

mainly because I love this green colour and love the combination with white. I used it to create this decoration for the present my son wants to give his teacher to thank her for two wonderful years.

For this last project I used the label stamp from the “Road Trip” set.

Take a piece of white cardstock and color it with three different colors of Distress inks.

Then, stamp an image over this rainbow colors with Versamark ink and heat emboss with a clear embossing powder.

Then, take another Distress ink, a dark one and cover the stamped piece in order to reveal the image and to cover other areas.

It’s like magic, don’t you think? Now, put this piece on your card and send to someone you love!

How about making another one, with three butterflies, each in a different color but on the same piece of paper?

The clear embossed area resists the dark ink but reveals what’s underneath – beautiful colors!

There’s a little variation to this technique. You can emboss your image on a cardstock that has some fine print on it. I printed some text from my computer in a light shade of green and than stamped my butterfly…

I used two shades of Distress inks to cover my piece.

And I have an extra tip for you. Having a right shade of cardstock to match your creation is a real challenge (unless you live close by a scrapbooking supplies  store!) I take a regular white card base and color the edges with some Distress inks in one of the colors I used on the embossed piece. Like so:

You can personalize your project by changing out the colors of inks and the stamp themes, but follow these basic steps to create your clipboard.

1.  Apply Ranger Alcohol Inks with the felt applicator, using Blending Solution to help break up and blend the colors. I used Stream and Wild Plum Alcohol Inks.

2. Shake metallic mixative color of Alcohol Inks to be sure that the color is thoroughly mixed in the bottle. Apply with the felt applicator in smooth strokes. This will also help blend and soften the colors.

3. Stamp selected images onto the clipboard. I used butterflies from the Colorful Companions set from myStampBOX and Midnight Blue StazOn ink. The dark blue ink was bold enough to show up well against the mottled background but not as harsh as true black.

4. Apply a sealant layer of Satin Hard Coat Mod Podge and allow to dry.

5. Embellish your stamped images as you choose. I used metallic and glitter gel pens, Ranger Stickles and P.K. Glitz Merlot glitter.

Finish up your project by tying on assorted matching ribbons. This is also a great way to use up ribbon scraps! Because the clipboard is decorated with only flat products, the clipboard surface is completely smooth and will not interfere with writing on the attached papers. Using myStampBOX alphabet stamps you could easily add a person’s name as well.

Sometime is hard to find inspirations for our pages or cards, I usually search the web and blogs like The MyStamp Box of course! but today I would like to challenge you to find inspiration elsewhere!

Recently I went to the cinema and saw this beautiful ad:

I loved the squares and that you could fit so many pictures in a page. I came home, grabbed my favorite MyStamp Box stamps  and immediately created a LO based on that ad. And here’s  the result!

I used my Colorful Companions and Road Trip sets to create accents for the patterned paper squares and my Rough Copy Alphabet for my title!

So… here’s the challenge:  Find inspiration for your LO or your card during your everyday routines! It can be anything: a sketch, a color combination, a texture… anything goes!

Today it’s my (Monique’s) turn to post on myStampBOX blog!!  

I want to show you a fun technique I recently used: stamping on t-shirts!! 

I think everybody has them: plain t-shirts without a single print on them. When my youngest son complained about one of them it hit me!! I would turn his boring green (or white or any other color) t-shirt into a funny one!! 

Here’s what I did: 

I gathered all the items I needed: the t-shirt, a piece of cardboard, my myStampBOX stamps (Road Trip), a solvent ink (in this case I used StazOn) and an acrylic block:

Before I got started I put the cardboard inside the t-shirt to smoothen the surface on which I was going to stamp to ensure a clear stamped image:

Then I chose my first stamp and stuck it to my acrylic block. Before I stamped on the t-shirt I tried a few times on a piece of paper first and then I stamped on the t-shirt:

I repeated this step with a few other stamps I liked:

And in the end the result looked like this:

Of course once I started decorating one t-shirt I couldn’t stop!!

I got out the next stamping sets “Abundant Blossoms” and “Colorful Companions” and an orange t-shirt:

and then a white t-shirt….  and then my Posca pens…. and this is the result:

and my son????

He’s very happy with his “new” old shirt!!

Here’s what you will need:

• Fabric
• My Stamp Box stamps. I used my Colorful Companions set.
• Ink pads
• Scissors

Ink your stamp and press firmly on the fabric.

I found that pigment ink worked best on my fabric. You have to try it out, all fabrics are different! On the bottom you can see the difference between Chalk ink and pigment ink.

Cut your butterflies leaving a small margin

Use your finger nail to scratch the edges. This gives a frayed look!

To give a little more dimension I like to use 3d dots. To do this simply apply a little piece of white cardstock to the back with a glue stick.

And here’s a LO I did using the fabric butterflies.

Supplies Needed:

Itty Bittys Stamp Set, Mini Alpha Small Box Set, Black Ink, Anything to color in your stamp images, a small frame, cardstock cut to the size of the frame (to be used as a background), white cardstock for stamping your images, scissors and adhesive.

Using the Itty Bittys Stamp Set stamp 8 images of your choice onto white cardstock.

Color each image in or as many as you like using glitter pens, pencils, paints etc.  Then cut each image out leaving a small white border around each.

Using adhesive attach the 8 images to your background cardstock cut to the size of your frame.

Using the Mini Alphas Stamp Set stamp the word ENJOY with black ink.  In my example I also embossed the word with black embossing powder.  Cut out each letter and mount them on pink cardstock.  Cut each out leaving a small border of pink.

Attach the letters to the font lower right side of your project and insert into your frame.

And there you have it…a fun and easy teacher gift.  You can use any of the wonderful myStamp Box sets to create a project of your own like this.  Some suggestions I have that may work really well are Abundant Blossoms, Any Occasion Stamps, Colorful Companions,  Neighborhoods (for a new neighbor that just moved in).  There are so many to choose from you really can’t go wrong with whatever you pick.

They seems to be the perfect symbol of summer, beauty and freedom to me.

And the mSB butterflies stamp set (colorful companions) have of course become one of my favourites. They are so versatile and fun, and can be used on layouts, cards, as background and on other papercraft projects.

I have had a thing for making “3D” pictures out of my scrapbooking stash lately. It is so fun to make something other than just layouts and cards, and it is nice to have something colorful and fresh to put on the walls or decorate around the house.

I made this summery picture using my mSB Colorful Companions stamps, vellum and the beautiful turqouise embossing-powder by PK Glitz.

For my layout I used the “the FACTS” stamp and created a jouraling block for my page.  I also used the DATE block to document when the photo was taken.  This layout also features a butterfly from the Colorful Companions set.  This is one of the additional butterflies that I stamped and created in my April 22 blog post.

Besides scrapbooking I love crafts and decorate little things for my home. I love to look trough magazines and I often find inspiration for scrapbooking pages or cards. Today I want to share with you a page that inspired me:

I loved the colors of this page. They screamed spring to me!

I used these colors to create a group of cards. I used my Colorful Companions set  (I’m a butterfly fan… ) and I stamped each butterfly separately. I then cut out each one. I love to do this because it gives more dimension to the cards!

The first card is very simple, the butterfly is the center of attention, I wrote the sentiment on the inside of the card.

The second one is a group of butterflies flying. I added a hand written sentiment.

For the last one I added some black and white ribbon. I think it gives a nice touch

The challenge this week is to use this color palette to create something, it can be anything! A card, a tag, a LO, etc… I hope you participate! I would love to see your creations so if you make something please share the links in the comments!

First gather your supplies, you’ll need
favorite My Stamp Box stamp set – I used Colorful companions

transparency – any will do
permanent ink – I used Stazon black
Alcohol inks – I used various colors…the more the better
blending solution
scissors
clear thread – I used beading elastic
liquid adhesive – I used Helmar 450 glue
hole punch, pattern paper, cardbase, sandpaper

Start by dropping some alcohol inks onto the transparency…I let each color pool and dry before adding the next.

I then turn the transparency over once it has dried and stamp my images onto the opposite side. I do this so that if I need to lighten the color on the transparency using the blending solution I can do so without the stamping ink smearing. These butterflies from the Colorfun Companions set are perfect for this type of project. I then selected the one butterfly I would use for my project and cut it out.

I then covered my card front with pattern paper (Kiki Art) and punched the circle from the center using a large punch.

I then attached the clear thread to the card with liquid adhesive; using the same adhesive to attach the butterfly to the thread on the inside of the card behind the cutout.

I then used sandpaper to rough the edges of the card and along the circle cutout.

I added a printed sentiment to the front of my card and it is complete. This is a great way to add some fun action to any card!

Here’s what you’ll need; your favourite myStampBOX stamps, a regular dye ink (I used grey) and Versamark (watermark) ink.

First stamp your image onto your cardstock colour of choice with the regular dye ink. I used dye ink because it dries much quicker then pigment ink.

Next, ink your stamp (after cleaning off the dye ink) with Versamark ink. Stamp on top of your image slightly to the right. This will create the illusion of a 3D image.

Here’s a card I made using this simple 2 step process. I’ve included a close up of the finished technique on my card to show you how cool it looks.

We have gotten hit hard with snow on the East Coast over the last few weeks so whenever we get a nice day, we get outside if only for a few minutes. I took these photos of my son, Henry, a few weeks ago and when I sat down to scrap the, I just knew I wanted to add some springy elements to it {even though I took this photo in February…shhhh!}.

What better stamp to reach for than the Colorful Companions set? I used my glue pad and added some PK Glitz Pine Forest glitter.

Here is a close-up of the Colorful Companion stamp and the PK Glitz Glitter.

I also used the Just Add Notes set for my date in the upper left hand corner. It is the perfect staple in my stamp collection! I am always reaching for that set, especially when I am journaling or need a date.

Also used on here were Helmar Adhesives.

I created this “You’re So Sweet” card with my ever faithful Colorful Companions set (I’m wearing these bad boys out!) For the sentiment, I used the awesome new Mention It! set. I adore this set because it has so many mixed greetings in all different fonts. This is a definite MUST HAVE!!!

For the “Happy Birthday” card, I knew I just had to use my new Tall Outlines alpha stamps to stamp out the word “Birthday” so I upped my usual card size to a 5″x7″. The “Happy” is from the Lots of Dots Sentiments set.

That’s where alphabet stamps come in! They’re fabulous! You can make them look so many different ways just by altering the way you stamp, the colour you use or how you display the title.

In my first example (isn’t my niece adorable?), I cut out a small rectangle of white cardstock and stamped “ATTITUDE” in pink at varying angles to represent her tendency to show her own unique personality. I then added the smaller alpha stickers for the first part of my title.

In my next layout “Starting Over”, I created a special page about my father having a new baby later in life and starting the process of parenting all over. A very different look is created when you overlap your stamped letters and then hand cut them out.

I’d like to show you 4 different projects I have done with this set. First there are two scrapbook pages. I don’t usually use cardstock, because I love pattern paper, but for some reason, I couldn’t find the “perfect” pattern paper for these pictures.  So I made my own, using the “Colorful Companions”.

For this LO I used a piece of Kraft colored Cardstock and stamped different butterflies using Ranger Distress Ink in Antique Linen. This created a nice, subtle background. However, I did want to emphasize the butterflies some more, so I chose one butterfly stamp and stamped it several times using Ranger Distress Ink in Broken China.  This then made the background tie in nicely with the blues in the pattern paper.

For the next LO, I did use pattern paper for the background, but I did want to add a little something extra. I used the butterfly from the Tattered Angels Glimmer Screens and sprayed it with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Jazz Blue. Then I stamped the “Colorful Companions”, using Ranger Distress Ink in Broken China around the large butterfly. In addition, I added little drops of Stickles in Crystal to some of the butterflies. I love all things sparkly, so I think this is just the right touch.

For the next project, I stamped the “Colorful Companions” on vellum, this time using regular stamp ink in light green and lavender. Then I quickly covered the ink with iridescent embossing powder and heat embossed them. When they were cooled, I cut them out and attached them to the front of a little photo/candy box, which I had covered with some scraps of Basic Grey paper. I also added little wire curls for a little extra dimension.

Last, but not least, just because, a card. Here I stamped one of the larger “Colorful Companions” butterflies on teal colored vellum, using embossing ink, and then heat embossed it with irridescent embossing powder. Again, I cut out the butterflies and attached them to the card front using foam tabs. With this added dimension, it looks like the butterflies are flying through the embossed branches.

So, I hope you enjoyed my projects using the “Colorful Companions” stamp set. I am sure it won’t be the last ones either.

When I first started scrapbooking, I was quite intimidated by sketches…I didn’t know what exactly to do with them, and I thought that if you were working with a sketch, that You had to follow the sketch 100%.

Over the years, I have learnt that You can use a sketch for anything….cards, layouts, calendars, canvases, etc, and that You can follow as much of the sketch as you like, or you can change it up to make it your own.

Being a bit of a doodler, I tend to doodle my sketches at random times.

I try to always keep a pen and black sharpie on me at all times, because I can be going for a walk, or waiting to pick up my son from an activity, when I get an idea for a sketch. If I don’t quickly doodle my idea, the sketch will be gone from my mind.

I never redraw a sketch, or pretty it up, but rather work with the raw, messy original(as you can see..lol)

The title of this layout is “may your wish”

Rather then make 4 separate blocks along the side of the photo, I kept it in one large block, where I could use stamped images.

I stamped the present stamp onto blank scrap paper 4 times, and then used my son’s watercolour paints to paint each one a different colour.

Following the 4 blocks on the sketch, I adhered 4 stamped presents in the same spot.

This was the original layout I made,  right after thinking of the sketch.

I followed the sketch 100%, with adding 4 stamped butterflies where the 4 blocks were alongside the picture.

My husband travels often with his work and we sometimes leave little notes for one another to find while he is away.  I decided to use that as my theme today and create a few fabric tags to have on hand for the next time he’s on the road.

To create the first tag, I simply used two colours of Staz-On ink and stamps from the She Says - He Says and Merry Word Jumble sets to stamp my message.  I sewed the fabric to cardstock and attached the ribbon detail.

The next tag uses the She Says – He Says set again in conjunction with Oval Office.  I put the eyelet on the opposite side this time so I can attach it to the back of the previous tag and create a little mini book.

The last page of my little book  allows for some handwritten journaling.  The stamped lines are from the Just Add Notes set.

Used separately or bound as a mini, this project makes a great little “just because I love you” gift.

While I was playing with fabrics, I couldn’t stop without making one with a butterfly.  It has nothing to do with my theme, but I wanted to make it just to have on hand for a future project.  I pulled out my Colorful Companions set and created this.  I love the look of the burlap paired with the muslin.

So there it is, a quick and easy idea for creating your own custom tags.  Just make sure you load plenty of ink on your stamp and apply firm pressure when stamping on fabric.

I first coloured a butterfly from the Colorful Companions set in a solid red colour.

Next, I took an orange marker and coloured just the edges/tips of the butterfly wings.

Then I stamped my image to create this really cool two toned butterfly image. Just a note…if you aren’t very quick the marker ink might dry a bit, just breathe on the stamp and the warm breath will moisten the ink again.

Below is my completed card using the butterfly image along with another card using orange and green on a flower from the Abundant Blossoms set. They “HEY!” is from the incredibly cool and versatile Lots of Dots Alpha set!
