Who is Ready for Spring?
March 9, 2010 by Ellen · 3 Comments
Me! Me!
We have gotten hit hard with snow on the East Coast over the last few weeks so whenever we get a nice day, we get outside if only for a few minutes. I took these photos of my son, Henry, a few weeks ago and when I sat down to scrap the, I just knew I wanted to add some springy elements to it {even though I took this photo in February…shhhh!}.
What better stamp to reach for than the Colorful Companions set? I used my glue pad and added some PK Glitz Pine Forest glitter.

Here is a close-up of the Colorful Companion stamp and the PK Glitz Glitter.

I also used the Just Add Notes set for my date in the upper left hand corner. It is the perfect staple in my stamp collection! I am always reaching for that set, especially when I am journaling or need a date.

Also used on here were Helmar Adhesives.
Have a great day!

Wednesday Colour Challenge
November 4, 2009 by Cherie · 4 Comments
Welcome to the myStampBOX Blog! Today I’m here to challenge you to use some of my favourite colours on your cards, layouts and projects! I just love how brown, olive, teal, red and white look together!
![]()
I created this “You’re So Sweet” card with my ever faithful Colorful Companions set (I’m wearing these bad boys out!) For the sentiment, I used the awesome new Mention It! set. I adore this set because it has so many mixed greetings in all different fonts. This is a definite MUST HAVE!!!

For the “Happy Birthday” card, I knew I just had to use my new Tall Outlines alpha stamps to stamp out the word “Birthday” so I upped my usual card size to a 5″x7″. The “Happy” is from the Lots of Dots Sentiments set.

I’d love to see what you can do with this colour combo and your favourite myStampBOX stamps! So be sure to post a link in the comments with your creation!

Stamped Titles
October 30, 2009 by Cherie · 6 Comments
So many times when creating layouts people always grab their go to item. Having worked at my local scrapbook store, I’ve seen that most popular is usually a sticker or chipboard alphabet. However, I’ve always thought that you are so limited when you buy a sticker/chipboard alpha because it’s one colour.
That’s where alphabet stamps come in! They’re fabulous! You can make them look so many different ways just by altering the way you stamp, the colour you use or how you display the title.
In my first example (isn’t my niece adorable?), I cut out a small rectangle of white cardstock and stamped “ATTITUDE” in pink at varying angles to represent her tendency to show her own unique personality. I then added the smaller alpha stickers for the first part of my title.

Supplies: Bazzill Cardstock, American Crafts Paper, Making Memories Letter Stickers, my Stamp BOX Wishing You Sunshine, my Stamp BOX Colorful Companions, my Stamp BOX Splash Me A Lot, my Stamp BOX Seal It!
In my next layout “Starting Over”, I created a special page about my father having a new baby later in life and starting the process of parenting all over. A very different look is created when you overlap your stamped letters and then hand cut them out.

Supplies: My Mind’s Eye Paper, Making Memories Paper, Bazzill Cardstock, Copic Markers, my Stamp BOX Seal It!, my Stamp BOX Floating Leaves, my Stamp BOX Rough Copy
Did you know that my Stamp BOX has 23 alphabet, number and punctuation sets? They are all unique in their own way. Be sure to check them out!
Thanks for popping by today!

Things to do with Butterflies
October 27, 2009 by Liz · 6 Comments
One of my favorite stamp sets is the set “Colorful Companions”. I find it to be a most versatile set that I keep reaching for all the time.
I’d like to show you 4 different projects I have done with this set. First there are two scrapbook pages. I don’t usually use cardstock, because I love pattern paper, but for some reason, I couldn’t find the “perfect” pattern paper for these pictures. So I made my own, using the “Colorful Companions”.

For this LO I used a piece of Kraft colored Cardstock and stamped different butterflies using Ranger Distress Ink in Antique Linen. This created a nice, subtle background. However, I did want to emphasize the butterflies some more, so I chose one butterfly stamp and stamped it several times using Ranger Distress Ink in Broken China. This then made the background tie in nicely with the blues in the pattern paper.
For the next LO, I did use pattern paper for the background, but I did want to add a little something extra. I used the butterfly from the Tattered Angels Glimmer Screens and sprayed it with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Jazz Blue. Then I stamped the “Colorful Companions”, using Ranger Distress Ink in Broken China around the large butterfly. In addition, I added little drops of Stickles in Crystal to some of the butterflies. I love all things sparkly, so I think this is just the right touch.

For the next project, I stamped the “Colorful Companions” on vellum, this time using regular stamp ink in light green and lavender. Then I quickly covered the ink with iridescent embossing powder and heat embossed them. When they were cooled, I cut them out and attached them to the front of a little photo/candy box, which I had covered with some scraps of Basic Grey paper. I also added little wire curls for a little extra dimension.

Last, but not least, just because, a card. Here I stamped one of the larger “Colorful Companions” butterflies on teal colored vellum, using embossing ink, and then heat embossed it with irridescent embossing powder. Again, I cut out the butterflies and attached them to the card front using foam tabs. With this added dimension, it looks like the butterflies are flying through the embossed branches.

So, I hope you enjoyed my projects using the “Colorful Companions” stamp set. I am sure it won’t be the last ones either.

One sketch, 3 ways

When I first started scrapbooking, I was quite intimidated by sketches…I didn’t know what exactly to do with them, and I thought that if you were working with a sketch, that You had to follow the sketch 100%.
Over the years, I have learnt that You can use a sketch for anything….cards, layouts, calendars, canvases, etc, and that You can follow as much of the sketch as you like, or you can change it up to make it your own.
Being a bit of a doodler, I tend to doodle my sketches at random times.
I try to always keep a pen and black sharpie on me at all times, because I can be going for a walk, or waiting to pick up my son from an activity, when I get an idea for a sketch. If I don’t quickly doodle my idea, the sketch will be gone from my mind.
I never redraw a sketch, or pretty it up, but rather work with the raw, messy original(as you can see..lol)
The title of this layout is “may your wish”
Rather then make 4 separate blocks along the side of the photo, I kept it in one large block, where I could use stamped images.
stamp sets used: She says-He says, Oval Office (my Stamp BOX)
The title of the card is “merry Christmas”
I stamped the present stamp onto blank scrap paper 4 times, and then used my son’s watercolour paints to paint each one a different colour.
Following the 4 blocks on the sketch, I adhered 4 stamped presents in the same spot.
stamp sets used: Merry Mr. Snowman (my Stamp BOX)
The title of this layout is “oh boy”
This was the original layout I made, right after thinking of the sketch.
I followed the sketch 100%, with adding 4 stamped butterflies where the 4 blocks were alongside the picture.

Two Tone Stamping
August 13, 2009 by Cherie · 8 Comments
I decided to play with my stamps and markers this past week while on vacation and stumbled upon a really fun technique I’d like to share with you! So grab your stamps and your favourite scrappy markers!

I first coloured a butterfly from the Colorful Companions set in a solid red colour.

Next, I took an orange marker and coloured just the edges/tips of the butterfly wings.

Then I stamped my image to create this really cool two toned butterfly image. Just a note…if you aren’t very quick the marker ink might dry a bit, just breathe on the stamp and the warm breath will moisten the ink again.

Below is my completed card using the butterfly image along with another card using orange and green on a flower from the Abundant Blossoms set. They “HEY!” is from the incredibly cool and versatile Lots of Dots Alpha set!

Hope you’ve learned a new technique today! If so, give it a try…I think you’ll really like the outcome!
Happy Stamping!

pop-up tutorial with Sophie
July 25, 2009 by Bettina · 2 Comments
Today we would like to share Sophie’s (we introduced Sophie as our July guest designer on July 15th) approach to a couple of light and summer-y cards. These cards are so yummy and sweet looking. Sophie used the “Colourful Companions” and “Splash me a lot” stamp sets for her creations.

This card has butterflies in three light colours, all three popped up with a pop dot. The ribbon is very airy and makes the butterflies float. I love this card.

The “hello” card is very simple and doesn’t need a lot of colour for maximum impact. The letters for the HELLO are cut out and popped up again.
Here you can see how Sophie did it.

Thank you so much for sharing your pop-up technique, Sohphie! It was so much fun to have you over and show us some of your tricks and styles. I hope a lot of readers will be inspired to create light and simple cards.
Creating the Scene
July 23, 2009 by Allison · 7 Comments
Part of my love of stamping is taking something as simple as a single image and creating a scene using ink and other complimentary stamps.
Here are three examples of how I took the tree image from the Tree for All Seasons set to build card scenes;

The first card I created used the stamp set as it was originally designed; to create trees from the seasons.
So I took the tree image and created a tri-fold card with a fall landscape….

…. a winter landscape…..

….and then finally a Spring theme.

Friends are Always in Season
by Allison Cope
Come and visit my personal blog, Your Memories, to find out how easy it is to make this simple landscape using inks or an airbrush system.
Then for my second card, I wanted to create a more elaborate scene with more dimension and depth. So using the same techniques to create the hills of my landscape, I created this card;

And here it is open…

Greeting from Here… to There
by Allison Cope
I used lighter colours of ink for objects farther away; for instance, I used richer, darker brown ink for the trees positioned in the foreground (close to you) and lighter brown inks for the trees farther away. I used the same technique for the hills; lighter ink for those hills farther away and richer, darker ink for the hills that appear closer. The sentiment I used was from the Neighborhoods stamp set.
Here’s a quick peak at the layered butterfly on the front of my card:

I used two different butterfly images from the Colorful Companions stamp set and then glue dotted the body’s together and then placed some foam adhesive under the wings to have them remain above one another.
And for my final card, I wanted to create a framed scene, so I placed the tree image from the Trees for All Seasons set it on my 3.5 x 4.5 acrylic block and using some good old Scotch tape, I covered a few of the branches that I didn’t want to appear on my piece of cardstock. I patted my stamp on to my ink pad, removed the tape covering the branches I didn’t want to stamp and then stamped my image. This allowed me a gap on my branch to attach my light pink die cut bird;

You’re A Great Friend
by Allison Cope
For my sentiment, I used a simple one from the Lines of Life stamp set. The myStamp BOX stamps sets are flexible enough to curve and bend so I bent my sentiment to fit the curve of my brown circular patterned paper.
I hope you enjoyed the “scenery” today and that you return again and again to the myStamp BOX blog for lots of continued inspiration from the myStamp BOX team!
Please visit my personal blog, Your Memories, for further instructions on creating the landscapes from my card examples today and also my supply lists!
Happy creating everyone!
Creating a Waterfall Card
July 19, 2009 by Cherie · 6 Comments

Step 1: Cut four 1 ¾”x1 ¾” squares of cardstock.

Step 2: Stamp desired images on each square piece using coordinating colours.

Step 3: Cut four 2”x2” squares of cardstock in the same colour of ink you stamped in and mat each stamped square on its coordinating piece.

Step 4: Cut a 2”x9” strip of cardstock.

Step 5: Score this piece of cardstock at 2”, 2 ¾”, 3 ½”, and 4 ¼”

Step 6: Fold your cardstock along the score lines.

Step 7: Adhere each stamped cardstock square to the folded parts of the cardstock strip. The bottom one (yellow in my sample) will completely cover the strip from the edge to the first fold. Each square from then on (red, green and orange) will only adhere half of its piece to a fold in the (blue) strip.

Step 8: Attach an eyelet and tie a piece of ribbon through the eyelet to create a pull.

Step 9: Decorate a card (sample is 5 ½”x4 ¼”) with coordinating patterned paper. Adhere a 1 ½” strip of cardstock near the bottom of your card. It’s very important to only adhere on the left and right edge, not in the middle of this piece of cardstock.

Step 10: Tuck the long edge of the (blue) strip of cardstock underneath the horizontal piece adhered in step 9.

Step 11: Apply glue to the horizontal strip, the same width of the slider underneath. Adhere your bottom stamped square to the adhesive making sure to line the bottom of the square up with the bottom edge of the horizontal piece.

Step 11: Once the glue dries, you should be able to pull the ribbon and your slider will cascade to reveal each image one at a time. You can then stamp a greeting on the inside of the slider to reveal when pulled.

And here is the finished card! I hope the instructions are detailed enough for you. If not, feel free to contact me with any questions!
