One of my most treasured stamp sets has to be BOO. Not only do I adore the very Halloween specific images, but the solid dot is so much fun! I think I have used that more than any other stamp.

With this step by step I would like to show you how to use the solid stamp to create a very linear and quick greeting card.

Materials needed:

Stamp Sets used:
BOO
FLOATING LEAVES
GELEGENTLICHES

I have stamped the solid dot in two different ink colours onto white cardstock and punched them with a circle punch, still showing some white frame, as I prefer this look.

Punch slightly larger circles in a cardstock colour that matched your stamped image and layer

Using a variety of cardstock scraps in colours matching my chosen colour scheme, I started layering the background for my card.

Now adhere the stamped images to the background and add some sentiments and a little leaf image to complete your card.

I am a HUGE fan of ad challenges – somehow I feel that no other challenge will allow you as much leeway in how to interpret what you see.

And ad can evoke a colour combination, you may be taken by the font used, or some design elements…it just amazes me how many different takes you can get from one ad challenge. So, for this month’s challenge I just had to grab one of my favourite ads – look at it: the possibilities are totally endless…are you gonna look at the colours? The font?? The elements???

So, which element of this ad would tickle your fancy and get your creative juices flowing??
I chose the circle theme and the focal blue.

The stamp sets used for this layout were:

Good morning and welcome to my very first challenge layout here on the my StampBOX blog.

I never really thought much of the colour orange and cringed whenever an orange piece of paper/cardstock/embellishment made its way into my craft area. But somehow I have grown to love this colour and when you team it with pink, you can get such exciting projects together.

So, this week I challenge you to not only use the colours ORANGE and PINK together on a layout but also to include CIRCLES in different sizes.

Here is what I came up with – can you guess how many different stamps I have used on this layout?

Stamp Sets used (if you click on the images you get directly to the set in the store and can add it to your cart)

My challenge to you this week is a simple one: Glam, Glitz, Bling, Shimmer -all those wonderful things that bring sparkle to a project. Bring on the Bling!

On this first project, I used a fancy bling design by Zva Creative in addition to glitter. I simply put two sided tape around the perimeter of the card and sprinkled my glitter on top. A simple shake to remove the excess was really all that was needed. The adhesive I used is Stix2 and works really well for this type of application. The sentiment is from the Lines of Life set.

In this next example, I added bling with my stamps using glittered embossing powder and a glitter cut by Fancy Pants.

The BOO! set was my stamp set of choice for this Halloween page.

I can’t wait to see how you bring on the bling with your next myStamp BOX project.

Until next time,

Tracey

Anyone who knows me, or has read my blog, knows that I am obsessed with shoes. I am usually caught in the dilemma of wether to spend my money on shoes or on scrap supplies, but really, I think it about balances out.

Anyway, a while ago I found these pages in a German magazine: lots of shoes and purses, in all kinds of colors. While the other pages, with lots of super chic shoes in black, brown and white, were definitely interesting (and the shoes probably more versatile… grin), the first two pages, with shoes in bold, popping colors, made me gasp. Pure color delight!

So, my challenge for you today… let this spread inspire you.

This is what I came up with:

This LO is all about the colors. I started out with red CS for the background. I heat embossed the magenta circles (from the BOO stamp set), the green hexagon (Hive of Life) and the turquoise flower petals (He loves me). I then layered three different pattern papers as well as two different overlays, and then added the picture, which is also heat-embossed with teal embossing powder around the edges. Last, but not least, I added a skull die-cut out of teal vellum on top of which I layered the title.

So, have at it. I cannot wait to see what you come up with.

One of my favorite myStampBOX collections this fall is BOO! I have been getting a lot of use out of these clever little stamps. Today’s layout also features a sketch.

I stamped and embossed several images from BOO! with gold Zing! embossing powder. I punched out each image using a 1 1/4 circle punch to make little medallions which I attached to the layout with 3D glue dots. The images from these stamps are so bold that they are a dream to emboss!

Try using this sketch to create your own layout or card. Remember that you can always flip or reverse the sketch and change elements such as the circles to shapes that best match your theme.

Happy scrapping! – Jolene

Jonah had to bring a treat to a Halloween party last weekend and we were looking for a quick and easy project with the Boo! set.

We bought wrapped candies (they should not be more than 1″ in diameter). We started by stamping the halloween images with Versamark ink onto white and orange cardstock. Then we sprinkled them with black embossing powder and embossed the pages. Now we had to use the circle punch (1.1/4″) and punched out all designs (30 in all). Then we used a 1.3/8″ punch to punch 60 black circles.

The sweets were glued onto one black circle each (Helmar Professional Acid Free Glue worked well for us here). The images were stuck onto the remaining 30 black circles and then glued onto the sweets. Done! I think the sweets look just adorable – and they disappeard quickly!

While I had the circle punches out I couldn’t stop punching. I used up different shades of orange scraps and punched two different sizes of circles. They were arranged on a card and some of them were stamped with the Jack-o-lantern face, leaving the circle out. Then I added a bit of sowing to add the vines and give the impression of a pumpkin patch. A fun Halloween card…

I hope you are inspired for another Halloween project.

Happy stamping!

Before we show you the second part of stamping with Chrissy we would love to share with you the winners for the draw of the magazine of October 13. The two names are: Nikki C. and Amanda Profumo.

Ladies, please send your addresses to bettina@mystampbox.com and go brew a nice cuppa to wait the arrival of the mags. Have fun reading! Make sure to check out Jolene’s article on homemade gifts.

And now over to Chrissy, who is showing more cool projects with the Boo! set.

With the holiday season closing in on us, many of us are looking for quick and easy gifts to give to friends, neighbors, coworkers, classmates, etc. For this project, I have created a quick and easy 3″ gift card and an easy peasy treat sack – a perfect spooky surprise for your child’s lunch box or a coworker’s mail room box.

The card was created using a leftover strip of my patterned paper that I made for the “Boo” accordion tag. I added a strip of torn black card stock, a piece of cute gingham ribbon, and the “Happy Halloween” sentiment from the Boo! set. I cut out the sentiment and adhered it to a scrap of black card stock and cut it out again. Then I added it to the card with foam tape to add dimension.

For the treat sack, I just stamped a few of the Boo! stamps onto a glassine bag and let it dry. So quick and easy. You could even have your kids help you out with this task! Once the ink was dry, I filled it with some candy, folded over the top and punched two hole to string the ribbon through. You could easily add a small tag too, if desired.

Don’t worry if Halloween is approaching too fast … both the treat sack and the little card could easily be reworked for the another holiday just by changing the stamp set and color scheme – the Christmas Minis set would be perfect for recreating these in a Christmas theme!

Stamps: Boo! from my Stamp BOX
Ink: PTI Orange Zest, Pallete Noir Black, Paper: PTI White, Orange Zest, True Black
Accessories: PTI balck & white gingham ribbon; orange ribbon from craft store; foam tape; glassine bag

Did you know you could use the Boo! Halloween set to make a winter-themed card?!

In this project, I am going to show you how to get more out of your Boo! set just by using the solid circle stamp and a punch.

First, you need a punch and scrap paper. For this project, I used a snowflake punch. Punch out a few snowflakes and layer your punched card stock over a scrap piece of paper.

Next, ink up your solid circle stamp and stamp over the hole you punched out. This will remove some of the ink, but leave the ink intact where the punched out shape was.

Then, stamp onto your card stock and repeat as desired. Once I finished stamping my circle snowflakes, I used the punched snowflake hole as a guide to add some snowflakes with a glitter pen.

Once you have your patterned paper complete, the assembly for this card is pretty simple. Cut your snowflake paper strip and a wider pink strip of card stock and distress the edges of both. Adhere them together and wrap a length of grosgrain around the top of the panel and tie a knot before adhering to your card base. Finally, stamp your sentiment on the bottom and add some stacked buttons to your knot with twine.

Thanks for inviting me over! I love how this card came out and I hope I’ve inspired you to experiment with creating your own patterned paper using your my Stamp BOX stamps.

Canada is celebrating Thanksgiving today.

The Fall colours are beautiful right now and I got to think about things I am grateful for while driving through the countryside yesterday.

The most important item in my life is my family, which inspired me to do this layout. I arranged the “Thanks” from the “You name it” set and leaves from “All year round” as if they were swirling around in the wind in the upper part of the LO and arranged them more neatly in the bottom part. I added a few hand made photo corners and matched the stitching to the layout: tidy in rows on the bottom and swirly on the upper part. I decided to leave out a big title, as I have 16 mini titles and tucked the journaling behind the largest photo, written on a hand made tag.

I love making everything from scratch and let the stamps speak for themselves. The colours and motion make me think of a Fall hike on a windy day.

And now I would like you to meet our guest designer for the month of October – we are super excited to have Chrissy Lux with us.

My name is Chrissy Lux and I am thrilled to be joining you as the Guest Designer for October! I live in NC with my husband of two years and am a full-time teacher.

I have been into paper crafts seriously for about two years now and I really love that this hobby allows me to make inexpensive, but thoughtful gifts for friends and family in a realistic amount of time for my busy life. I have always been into crafts and have done everything from cross-stitching to card making to scrapbooking to quilting over the years. Needless to say, my office is pretty packed with paper and fabric!

I would describe my paper crafting style as being cute and simple. One thing that I couldn’t live without is plain, colored cardstock. I almost always make my own patterned paper, so I love having stamp sets that I can use to make interesting and customized designs to work with my cards and projects. I also enjoy finding ways to use stamps for backgrounds that maybe weren’t intended to be! (You will see a few examples of this in my projects this month!) During the school year, most of my crafting happens on the weekend or later in the evenings and I often start with a color or sketch challenge (there are many great challenges online) to give me a jump start. I was very excited to find out that I will be published for the first time this January in CARDS magazine.

Chrissy will share a couple of projects this week. For more of her work, check back next Monday

Over the past year or so, I have been working on building a collection of holiday and seasonal themed accordion tags. They are cute to have around the house. When I saw the Boo! stamp set, I immediately thought it would be great for just such a project!

I really like making my own patterned paper using my stamps. You can see that I made some really cute paper with the spider web circle image, solid circle image (for the pumpkin background) and the jack-o-lantern face circle image. Whenever I am making patterned paper, I like to have all my pieces cut and stamp each image on all the parts before moving to the next image. Doing this in an assembly line process makes quick work of your project!

Actual assembly of the tag was really easy – just adhere all the layers together; punch some circles; dip adhesive chipboard letters in ink and add them on top of the card stock circles. Then punch some holes and finish off with some ribbon! The tag measures 4-1/4″ tall and each scored segment is 2-1/2″ wide.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Boo! from my Stamp BOX
Ink: PTI Orange Zest, Fresh Snow, Palette Noir Black
Paper: PTI White, True Black, Orange Zest
Accessories: PTI Orange Zest grosgrain; Heidi Swapp chipboard alphabet letters
Tools: Scor-Pal, 1-3/4 circle punch, 1-7/8 scallop circle punch

Tags can be really fun to make and they are also very versatile – you can add them to a card, a wrapped gift, or gift bag …or just about anything else! I really wanted to try to think outside the box and use my Boo! set for something other than Halloween … this sure was a challenge, but I discovered the solid circle image in the set can used in many different ways.

One of my favorite color combinations is pink and green. So, I started by stamping the solid circle image from Boo! in bright pink ink. Then I cut out the circle, and notched out some triangles with a pair of scissors to create a funky flower shape. I trimmed a few of these flowers further to vary the sizes so my finished project would be more interesting.

I used the Everyday Lines set to stamp out the “Happy Birthday” sentiment, which I cut out and distressed with ink and an edge distresser tool.

To assemble my tag, I covered a chipboard tag with green polka dot paper and stitched some hot pink ribbon along the bottom – I love this technique. It’s girly and fun! I sanded and inked up the edges of the tag to age it a bit before adding the sentiment and flowers with foam tape. Curling the petals up and adding a few rhinestones in the middle of the flowers really jazzes up the tag. Finally, I added some ribbon and twine at the top of the tag to finish it off.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Boo! and Everyday Lines from my Stamp BOX
Paper: PTI White, Bitty Dot Paper; chipboard tag
Accessories: PTI Raspberry Fizz grosgrain; Martha Stewart adhesive rhinestones; twine

Well today’s post is going to be spooktacular. You will need some scrapbook supplies as well as some fun stuff.

Scrapbook supplies:

BOO myStampBOX stamp set

Extras:

clear sandwich bags

different kinds of Halloween candy

plastic curling ribbon (kind you’d wrap presents with)

I took a few 12×12 pieces of white & kraft cardstock. I used different colours of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist & stencils and randomly sprayed all over. I wanted all the colours of Halloween for a background. Then I cut my own tags in different sizes: 2 1/2x 5, 3×5, 2×4 etc. There is no right or wrong size. Some I used the notebook punch on the bottoms & sides, some I ripped.

I love using the black staz on because it is a really crisp colour and goes over top of the glimmer mist perfectly. I love the look of the Boo stamps going off the edges, along the sides and pretty much random all over.

To make the stamps pop more, I broke out the Colorbox “Smooch” a neato paint that looks like nailpolish. I added little bit of the paint to accentuate the finer detail. My favourite was on the mummies.

Then once I was ready to complete my project, I put random Halloween candy into little sandwich bags and tied with the gift wrapping curling ribbon, but you could definitely use scrapbook ribbon. I punched holes in all the tags to feed the ribbons through and tie the bags together. Then I curled the ribbons. I had so much fun making these!

Have a spooktacular Halloween!

Halloween is shortly around the bend. And our family happens to love the excitement of costumes and candy, decorations and all the fun surrounding this theme. So in preparation I was soooooo excited to receive these fabulous new Halloween stamps. I think I will possibly be using this an unbelievable mount of times in the next few weeks.

So today I thought I would start off showing some tags I made for goody bags. When it comes closer to Halloween and I actually will finish the tags with ribbon & the recipients names. But you know me, there is no reason why we can’t prep now and do final touches later.

So I took a sheet of white paper and sprayed it with glimmer mist in all the Halloween colours. (caramel apple, pumpkin pie, haunted shadows, raven, marshmallow) I wanted to start out with a shimmery background.

Then I cut my tag shapes out and used all of the stamps to make borders or designs. Then I took Clearsnap “Smooch” (a fabulous paint)and coloured in some of the stamped images.

So to do these tags I used a handful of products: cardstock, core’dinations cardstock (inner colour core) tattered angels glimmer mist, notebook punch,Clearsnap Smooch, black pen & black ink.

Here’s the individual tags prepped and ready to be completed. This tag I mounted onto Core’dinations cardstock. I like not showing the whole images, it leaves more for creativeness and dimension. I coloured in a few of the mummy wraps and then did a little doodling with smooch.

As you can see I don’t colour every thing. Only a few.

This tag I used lot’s of marshmallow glimmer mist on black cardstock to create the stencil image. Once I had background tones, then I stamped boo all over!

So I hope you enjoyed seeing a few ways to prep you Halloween tags. Further on in the month you will see my post where I complete these tags and attach them to the kids goody bags. I will also be showing you some Halloween pages. to leave you with a teaser, here is the beginning of an 8×8 that I made a border out of stamped images. Can’t wait to finish it. See you Friday Oct.9th to see the projects completed to give!

Have a fabulously spooky day!
