Glossy border

January 19, 2010 by Virginie · 1 Comment

Hi everyone!

I’m here to share a layout with you today… And i wanted to show you a fun thing i like to do: glossy tone on tone borders. I love the effect and it’s so easy! All you have to do is stamp the border with versamark and then emboss it with clear embossing powder:

En Route

I used the “bits and pieces” stamp set and the “your story” stamp set.

And here are some close-ups:

I hope you like it and i’ll see you soon!

Wednesday challenge: card sketch

December 9, 2009 by Virginie · 3 Comments

For this wednesday, i challenge you to make a card using the sketch i created:

This sketch can be used for any occasion. Here are two examples of cards i made: one is for a birthday and the other one is a Christmas card.

img_3259web

I like to make very colorful cards for birthdays, it’s a way to say “be happy, it’s your birthday!”. I used the “you name it” stamp set. I didn’t follow the sketch exactly as i wanted to put stars instead of the circle.

img_3249web

For this one, i still wanted colors, even though it’s a Chrismas card. I like color! I used the “bits and pieces” stamp set.

I hope you like the sketch and it inpires you to use it to create cards or layouts!

Layouts with Cindy

Blue ‘wonder’ LO

I had SO much fun playing with the “Bits and Pieces” stamp set. This set really fits almost every possible occasion, if you only have room in your stash for a few stamp sets, this is a MUST HAVE.

For my ‘Wonder’ layout, I chose the snowflake stamp (with platinum Dew Drops Ink) and created a background on the verticle strip and also stamped some embellies and used a circle punch on them. I then popped them off the page with a foam dot and added a small bling rhinestone for added dazzle. Addt’l supplies: Papers, Bazzill, kraft, Tinkering Ink, Prima Bling

Note: I also used the “Tall Outlines” set (with black stazon ink) on this LO from my stash. This is LITERALLY my favorite alpha stamp set.

SMART CAR LO

I have to admit, I am a TOTAL chicken when it comes to stamping ON my LO, so I have figured out a few tricks along the way. On my Smart Car layout, I used the ‘watermelon’ stamp as a fun scalloped border stamp (using black Stazon). The trick I used was to stamp a border on ANOTHER piece of kraft cardstock, cut it out VERY near my stamped line and glued it on my kraft base and it looks like I stamped it right on my LO. This allowed my to figure out where I wanted to place it without messing it up.

Meet Cindy Stevens, our guest designer in November

November 9, 2009 by Bettina · 7 Comments

Hi Everyone, I’m Cindy. I am a SAHM of a beautiful, crazy little boy and wife of 9 years to my amazing & equally crazy husband. We are proud to call Atlantic Canada our home. I have been scrapping for 4 years, starting shortly after my son was born. Not long after THAT, I discovered the LSS and was HOOKED – this hobby fuels my passion to create and shop alike!!

I have been fortunate enough to be published in Scrapbook Trends, ST Cards, Scrapbooks & Cards today & Canadian Scrapbooker.

I am a DIE HARD paper addict and love that I can make so many of my own embellies with a great stamp & ink. I can never have enough of either (although, I am sure my husband wouldn’t agree). I adore scrapping my Hubby & Little Man but once in awhile crave a pink LO and will do a page for my Book Of Me.

I mostly scrap at night when my Little Man goes to sleep, either on my bed or at my scrap table. I am a TOTAL night hawk with an addiction to Chocolate and Diet Coke.

I want to thank Bettina for this wonderful oppertunity to guest design for My Stamp Box!!

Lady Bug card
I used black stazon (I find this ink gives me a nice, crips image) and stamped 3 ladybugs. I used a red sharpie for coloring, matted them on card stock and pop dotted them for dimension. You’ll notice I left it without sentiment. This works great when you need a cute card in a pinch, you just hand write your sentiment with your note inside. I also repeated the ladybug image 3 times. I find 3 of one image really makes a great design detail without being to fussy.

Congrats Grad card
This is another clean & simple one. I again used black stazon and tied the ink in as a design element, deciding to use black ribbon & ink on the edges for a consistent look.

Celebrate Card (balloons)
This was a FUN card to do, I used several of the stamps for this versatile set. I again used the watermelon as a scallop border, colored using red sharpie and hand cut the border out and adhered on my card. I also stamped balloons on coordinating paper, again cut VERY close to the stamped image and used pop-dots on them. I finished by tying thread around the balloon base to make them appear to be floating. I finished again with these wonderful simple sentiments.

Celebrate Card

NEVER underestimate a basic sentiment in a classic, clean font. I can EASILY see that I will be turning to “Bits and Pieces” time & time again.

See you next Monday for scrapbook layouts with “Bits and Pieces”.
