Hi, my name is Darlene D'Eon. I live on Canada's beautiful east coast in
Nova Scotia. I've been married to my best friend for 26 years and we have
two children, a 21 year old daughter and a 23 year old son, who has also
given us a wonderful daughter in law. By day I am a bank teller, but 24/7
I'm a wife and mother. And I'm very involved in my church.
Scrapbooking fits my lifestyle perfectly!! I love it! I've been scrapping
and cardmaking for just over 7 years. I've always been a crafter of some sort. 

When the children were young and I was a SAHM, I helped supplement the family
income by selling crafts and quilts. One thing that I really love about
scrapbooking is how personal it is. I'm doing it because I love the people
in the pictures and want to preserve our family memories. It's not something
that I'm thinking about selling, it's about us, for us!

I find it hard to define my "style". I like alot of different things, but a
lot of my work lately seems to have a bit of a shabby romantic feel to it,
but tomorrow - who knows what might hit me. I've had a couple of layouts
published and several cards, what a thrill to see your work in print.
Definitely a high-light for me!

Most of my work revolves around our family and close friends, we love to camp
in the summer and that makes for great pictures. I love winter, I know, I know,
not many people want to hear that right now, but I really enjoy all the seasons,
the changes in nature, that also influences my work alot.

Cards:
These stamps, Birthday Balloons, were so easy to use. What a great set to have
available for birthday invitations and cards. And really for any party theme!!

Happy Birthday
- For this card, I just stamped several of the ballons on to white card stock
with a variety of colours, cut them out and popped them up on a PP background.
Then I tied some metallic floss around each one to create a balloon bouquet.
Really simple!!



Love Love
- For this card, I again, stamped the heart balloon on white cardstock, and cut
them out. I added the Basic Grey "woolie flower" and the My LIttle Bit of Whimsy
"heart pin" for dimension. Tied the whole thing together with the ribbon! I ran
the white cardstock through the cuttlebug for the pindot background.

Summer colors

Hi all, Gudrun here.

School is soon out for summer here in Norway, and we are getting ready for lazy, warm, sunny summer days. Today I wanted to share a happy color-combo with you, for inspiration. For me, these bright, fun colors are really summer. We have a long, white, brown, grey winter here up north, and when spring and summer arrives at last I LOVE all the bright colors in the nature and all things around. … Blue sky, green grass, yellow flowers and bright sun-light, red little houses along the coast…..

In this picture you can see a little glimpse of the Norwegian summer ( from my point of view ) - I love this – it means sun, sea, fun,vacation, happy summer-days and wonderful memories to save and ponder upon during the long, cold winterdays.

I made a layout with my colorcombo – my little girl and her class-mates are dancing and singing in the garden at pre-school.

I am so in love with these balloons – so happy and fun – they always brings a smile on my face. Perfect for happy birthday cards and bright summer layouts.

And here, one more card, just inspired by the bright, happy colors. Used the “birthday ballons” set and the “summer alpha” for this card.

Step by step: how to make a gift card

Hi everyone!

Today we are going to make a card where you can insert a gift inside.

To start, cut a piece of cardstock: 8 1/2″ by 8″.

Fold at 4 1/4″.

Cut the bottom of the card’s front so you’ll end up with an 4 1/4″ by 5 1/2″ card. You should cut 2 1/2″ if you followed the dimensions given.

Then fold the bottm of the card’s back.

Punch a circle right in the middle of the flap.

Then sew the flap to the back of the card in order to have a pocket.

With the “Birthday Balloons” set, stamp 2 balloons with different inks.

Then cut around the balloons.

Prepare the front of the card.

Add pop dots to the balloons to give dimension.

Stamp a greeting inside the card and insert your gift.

doorhanger project – tutorial with Ria

Ria, our guest designer from August is back with more of her fabulous stamping. Here she will share how to do a beautiful doorhanger using a transfer technique.

Friend Door Hanger

1 – Print out desired image using ink jet printer and regular bond paper.

2 – Apply gesso on door hanger for a smoother surface.

3 – Cut out image to fit door hanger.

4 – Apply gel medium over entire image and turn over onto door hanger.

5 – Use a bone folder to smooth out air bubbles and ensure the whole image is transferred. Let dry at least 30 minutes.

6 – Peel off as much paper as you can to reveal image.

7 – To show more of the image, spritz lightly with water.

8 – Then use your finger to rub off paper to reveal the image. Let dry.

9 – Ink balloon stamp.

10 – Stamp balloon, string and saying on the door hanger .

11 – Embellish as desired.

And here Ria shares another beautiful card with our birthday ballons, which she stamped on fabric, cut out and adhered to the card panels. I love the texture the ballons get from the fabric. This is a fabulous card!

Ria Mojica – Guest Designer in August

Ria lives in Manila, Philippines, with her husband and three children. She is visiting with us this month to show us some of her incredible work with myStampBOX stamps. Ria received the Birthday Balloons and Lines of Life stamp sets to create several different projects.

Hi, I’m Ria. My style continues to evolve as I try new and different things, but I lean towards clean lines. I scrap mostly 12×12 LOs and strive for a variety of textures in each one. I also enjoy cutting up my patterned papers and adding embellishments. LOs for my daughters tend to be romantic with lots of pink and frills, while my son’s LOs are brighter and edgier.

1. How long have you been scrapbooking, what got you started?

I’ve been scrapping for the last 6 years. I started after a trip to Disney World Florida in 2003. I read about in while surfing on the net but didn’t know anybody in the Philippines who was into it. I dropped by a Michael’s and Target near my in-laws home in MN, bought a few supplies, and the rest, as they say, is history.

2. What are your favourite srcapping subjects?

My favorite subjects are my kids — they are an endless source of joy and inspiration.

3. What is your creative process for a layout?

If I’m doing work for a DT then I start with the product I’m given and then look for photos that will best highlight the product.

If I’m scrapping for myself, then I normally start with the photo and look for products to match it. My underlying style is clean and linear — I am a stickler for balance (I am a Libra) — and then try to add something extra. Since I have amassed quite a bit of stuff over the years, I try to look through my old stash before I “finalize” a LO and try to mix-in some old with the new.

4. What is your favourite time of day for your papercrafts?

I can scrap at any time of the day, the whole day, every day – but my favorite time is very early in the morning before anybody else is awake so I can do my stuff in peace.

5. Where do you spend your vacation this summer?

This summer we went to Boracay island here in the Philippines — it has a 2 mile stretch of the finest white sand you’ve ever seen in your life!

Happy Birthday Card

When I first got the balloon stamps, my immediate thought was that I wanted to find a photo of a child with the balloon in hand. My search for a photo led me to this vintage image of a child and many other similar images. The child was originally holding a flower which I cut out and replaced with the balloon. I think these images make a very simple card like this look really elegant and fancy. To give them a more modern touch, I did make the image colors “pop” more since I’m not very much into the vintage look.

Thought Balloon Fabric Tag

It’s obvious I fell in love with this vintage image but used it another way via image transfer on fabric. I also stamped the balloon and text directly on the fabric.

Happy Birthday LO

My daughter just turned 7 last July 20 so this LO is literally hot off the press. I made my own fabric embellishment by stamping 7 balloons using the masking technique. I also stamped the Happy Birthday phrase to look like it’s part of the patterned papers.

These are so beautiful, Ria, what great use of the balloon set. I love the techniques you used, transfers and stamping on fabric! Thanks for sharing these amazing creations.

Birthday Balloons

One of the stamp sets that caught my eye right away once I discovered my Stamp BOX stamps was the Birthday Balloons set. It’s such a fun and unique stamp set.

That’s why I’ve decided to dedicate my post today to this adorable set. Use a single balloon or group them together for a cluster of balloons; the choice is yours. What is guaranteed to happen is a one of a kind design that is sure to delight.

Clear Scraps and Helmar were generous and sponsored the my Stamp BOX design team this month and I’m so glad they did. Until now, I haven’t had the chance to play with any of their product and let me tell you, they are great.

Clear Scraps has so many cute little shapes and sizes to play with, I’m sure they have something for everyone. I had fun this month not only stamping the acrylic pieces but also embossing them. The Helmar adhesives were fantastic as well. I especially love the Quickfix Adhesive Runners. They are super easy to use and very strong!
