Meet Guest Designer Einat Kessler

My name is Einat kessler and I’m a designer from Israel. I’m married with two boys ages 10 and 14.

I am a CHA designer member, workshop teacher, writer and designer. I design scrapbooks, mini albums, paper crafts, mixed media, canvases, cards, 3D and interactive designs and home decor. I have been featured in Israeli TV in a series of scrapbooking and paper crafts workshops, as well as a monthly column in the leading Israeli craft magazine (up until it was closed). I have managed the leading Israeli scrapbook forum for the past six months and it is a fast growing, creative community. I was published in several international magazines and e-books and been a guest designer in several blogs and blog hops. I have been on several design teams and I’m currently a member of 4 teams.
As a little girl I  watched my grand father create amazing scrapbooks of wonderful trips to far away places he and my grandmother took. When My first son was born I decided to try and create a scrapbook for him and haven’t stopped since. I like to scrap about my sons, my family and the everyday life. Tell the big and the little stories that make up a history.

I always try to challenge my self with new materials and techniques. But my favorite materials, other than paper, are glimmer mists and flowers. In every project I make I always find myself cutting something. I love finding patterns and embellishments I can cut and I can sit for a long time fussy cutting with my scissors. When I work on a project I usually have an image in my head but the fun thing is that it never comes out exactly as I imagined it. I always make changes as I work! My style is is eclectic, but mainly Shabby Chic, Flowery and vintage. I have been published in online magazines, e-books and idea books. Since I started my own my creative business I work at my studio until my kids come back from school.

I love science fiction movies and TV shows, I don’t like chocolate and I would really like to visit China one day.

Scrapbook layout – SPRING
When I first saw the butterflies stamp set I immediately knew which photo I’m going to use for this layout

I first created the background by stamping the paper with resist ink. Then I sprayed the paper with glimmer mists. After the paper was dry I  went over the stamped images with a perfect pearls powder to give it a little shimmer

Then I stamped more butterflies with distress ink

I added cut papers and flowers and title. To add some more interest and texture to the layout I folded the corner of the paper and tucked it under a stamped butterfly that I cut out of the page. To complete the layout I added two patterned papers as a new corner to the layout and cut out stamped butterflies

This page was really fun to make. I just love all the spraying, inking and stamping that get my fingers dirty.

One of my favorite things about cards is that I can use all my scraps. This card was made with scraps of paper from the other 3 projects

On my card I adhered a piece of ton paper and 3 different sizes of punched scallops. I also added some swirls I cut from another patterned paper. Then I added three butterflies that I stamped, cut and inked their edges. I added the sentiment in two different sizes of letters in order to enhance the message.

Check out two more projects, including one tutorial, on Tuesday next week! See you then!
