Flowered Journal

Recently I discovered that my sweet friend Erin has a hidden talent for writing. Her powerful and tender words were perfect at just the time we needed them, so I decided to embellish a journal where she can keep those beautiful words flowing.

I started with a bright and cheerful journal with a window cutout in the cover framing the perfect initial, E. I was drawn to the bright flowers and enjoyed my recent work with the myStampBOX Abundant Blossoms stamp set. I decided to embellish the cover with bold, bright blossoms to further enhance the frame.

I stamped flowers from Abundant Blossoms, Striped Stems, and leaves from Floating Leaves on solid colors of sturdy cardstock. I embossed with black powder to help give the flowers an extra bold look against the busy pattern on the journal as well as a glossy texture. I added some shading to each leaf and flower using markers and a glitter gel pen. The flowers received a rhinestone center or some Flower Soft for added texture. I love the way they frame the opening! It was fun to take a store-bought item and make it into a much more personal gift. Be on the lookout for items you can embellish with stamping!

Here’s the cool news – myStampBOX has its own line of embossing powders coming soon! My journal uses the black which has a beautiful, glossy finish. Stay tuned to our online store for details on when the powders will be available for purchase.
