Wishing you Sunshine… with a twist!

In this dark and dreary month of January (here in Alberta Canada anyway) I wanted to make something bright and cheerful to lighten the mood.  And I also like to make cards that are a different from the standard AND I like find different ways to use my stamps that would not be immediately apparent.  When I received the myStamp Box “Wishing you Sunshine” stamp set the first thing I saw were clouds but the second thing I saw were FLOWERS!  I just loved the patterns and textures of these images and I also needed a baby shower card for a sweet little new arrival… put the two together and this is what I came up with – a different take on the “Wishing you Sunshine” cloud stamps and a different kind of baby shower card… I hope you like it.

The most difficult part of making this card was trying to decide which papers to use, and I ended up using them ALL!  I picked a fairly neutral “base” pattern and mounted it on a small, busy print.  I stamped and cut out various cloud images on all my papers and arranged them on the card base using foam dots for interest.  I cut the vase shape out of some of the scrap paper and I added the leaves last, all cut from three colors of washi tape with the same pattern.  (I used a black pen to outline the leaves so they would stand out a little more.)  All the stamping was done in the same color of pink ink which helped to pull everything together and the very last thing I did was add some glitter here and there to highlight and enhance the total image.  I just love the elegent yet whimsical look of this card and I hope it encourages you to look at your stamps again with “new eyes”!
