Be-LEAF It or Not… it’s Autumn!!

Howdy all!  As it’s September 26th today, we have now ushered in the season of AUTUMN!  My favourite time of year.  There is nothing like cool autumn evenings and beautiful fall foliage.

So in honour of the beginning of autumn, I thought I would showcase a series of cards using LEAVES within their designs!  So today I’m showcasing the myStamp BOX stamp set, “Floating Leaves“!

For the first card I wanted to create a wreath type focal image so I grabbed a circle and laid it down as a mask for the center of my wreath, then I proceeded to stamp using “Peeled Paint” Distress Ink using the multi-branched image from the “Floating Leaves” stamp set.

TIP: To achieve the two shades of green in my greenery, I stamped off on a scrap piece of paper before stamping to get the lighter shade.  This technique is called “Stamping Off“.

WREATH

For my second card, I inked up a piece of smooth white cardstock with two brightly coloured Distress Inks, “Barn Red” and “Orange Marmalade“.  I made sure that the inks were well saturated.  Then I took three of the leaves from the “Floating Leaves” stamp set and stamped them onto a folded piece of damp paper towel and then stamped it onto the inked cardstock.  This caused the water from the stamp to push away the ink.  So simple!  This technique is called “Water Stamping“.

AUTUMN LEAVES

For my final card, I wanted to use my leaves as my focal pinwheel so I stamped them on a die cut shape, overlapping them and angling them to fit within my shape.  I coloured them using a water pen using the Distress Ink “Shabby Shutters“.  I placed a frilly circle die cut and a decorated button on the top of my image.

GREEN LEAVES

I hope I’ve inspired you today to create using some LEAVES as your inspiration!

Happy stampin’!
