Last weekend our family was up in Georgian Bay enjoying a few days at a family cottage. Other than swimming, kayaking and doing the odd chore, I spent a lot of time with my camera, capturing all family activities and stocking up on scrapbooking pictures. The amazing colours of rocks, plants and animals were so striking, I took a load of pictures for inspiration. Here are a few that I made into a small inspirational collage.

A very interesting part of this process was to see that some of the colours in these combinations are very muted and maybe boring by themselves, but mixed with a vibrant one, they are quite striking and exciting. And here is what I came up with after spending some time digging through my stash of stamps and papers:

I used the shape of the leaves of the water plants and tore them from Core’dinations paper. To give them more colour I stamped the “heartfelt thanks” stamp from the “Word Jumble” stamp set with Versamark Ink on each leaf and used PearlEx Powder to bring out the writing. The card is 5×5″.

This card is 4×6″. The green circles mock the lichen on the rocks that grow in circular shapes and are punched out of green cardstock with three different circle punches (1/2″, 1.25″ and 1.4″). I used the “Symbols” stamp set to decorate the circles. Finally I added faux stitching, grey brads and the sentiment stamp from the “Whatever” stamp set.

This final card is made with the “A flower for you” stamp set. I used brown ink only to keep the colours muted and pulled together. The little flower centre is popped up with a Helmar pop dot.
I hoped you enjoyed following my creative process. Inspiration is all around us, it just needs to be noticed.
Happy Stamping,
