Jaine, our July guest designer, is back with a wonderful tutorial on how to stamp on Polymer Clay. This is such a fun technique, you have to try it. Stamping on polymer clay couldn’t be easier and gives some wonderful results.
To make this little piece of wall art take a canvas of just 4 x 4 inches and paint onto it with acrylic paints, water colours or whatever medium you like to work with.
Next take the clay (I used Fimo but you could also use Sculpey or any other brand of polymer clay) and condition it in your hand or pasta machine (not used for pasta I have to say) until you can roll it out flat. Don’t roll it out too thin otherwise your stamp will go right through.
Next take the stamp (un-inked) and push it gently into the clay to create a good impression. I used the “Itty Bittys” stamp set.

Cut around the stamped image and then bake as per the manufacturers instructions.

Once cooled you need to really bring out the image on the clay, so take a contrasting colour of acrylic paint and with your finger and only a little paint, rub over the raised parts of the image.

To finish off my canvas I mounted the clay pieces onto a black card and glued it and a few other embellishments onto the canvas with gel medium.

So voila as they say, you have one neat piece of art to hang on your wall.
Hope you like it!
