With Valentine’s Day only a few weeks away, I wanted to share a step by step tutorial for something fun having to do with this special day! I always like preparing something fun to share with friends, family and even my son’s pre-school teachers. So I designed a little pullout box to add some sweets to, to give as simple gifts this year.

Here’s how to make this simple project:
1. Cut a piece of cardstock to 12 x 4.5 inches. I used brown cardstock.
2. Score the red lines shown below in the diagram to create the outer part of your box.

3. Stamp all kinds of fun things on the scored cardstock piece. For mine, I used the “love U” from my Mention It stamp set and the tiny heart from my Seal It! stamp set.

5. Next I placed some adhesive on the stamped side one inch flap and bent the cardstock into a square shape, adhering the flap inside of box.
6. I then grabbed a new colour of cardstock, hot pink , and cut out a 8 1/8 x 9 3/4 rectangle.
7. Score down the longest length at 2 5/8 inches from each side. See red lines on the diagram below.
8. Using my trimmer I cut out the sections shown in orange (2 1/8 x 2 7/8), making sure that I cut right to the score line but leaving the 1/2 inch tabs for gluing. You wouldn’t need these orange cut out pieces; save them to decorate a card if you wish!

9. Stamp all over your cardstock with some fun images. I chose to use the X’s & O’s from my Color Me stamp set and also my Rough Copy Alphabet stamp set. And a few hearts of course too!

10. Add adhesive to the top side of each 1/2 inch tab and fold up your project into a box, tucking the tabs inside the box to adhere to the walls. Punch a half circle, or a scalloped half circle in my case, in the top of one end of the box. You down have a box that will slide into your decorated base!
To finish off my little treat box, I stamped a tag image from my Road Trip stamp set on a piece of white cardstock, added the sentiment “you’re so sweet” from my Mention It set and one last little heart image from my Seal It set to finish it off completely.

For the contents, I added a small baggie of spicy cinnamon hearts!

To create the band around my box, I took a 12 inch strip of patterned paper (approx. 2 1/2 inches wide) and carefully wrapped and scored it to fit around the outer box. I decorated it with some fun die cuts and ribbon.

supplies: stamps, myStamp BOX (Seal it!, Mention it, Rough Copy Alphabet, Color Me, Road Trip); cardstock, Bazzill, Prism; patterned paper, Bo Bunny; ribbon, American Crafts; die cut, Kustom Die Kuts; ink, Memento, SU!; brad, Making Memories; flower, We R Memory Keepers other, thread.
