When I first saw this blog post by Allison featuring the Road Trip set of myStampBOX stamps, I knew that I would be using them some day. I bookmarked it and saved it for a rainy day. Little did I know that several months later our little family would be embarking on a good old American road trip of our own! I am using the Little Yellow Bicycle line called “Traveler” for this project and am mixing in several sets of myStampBOX stamps as I go. Here are a few of the ways I have used them.

I chose a sheet of paper with a map of the US states for my mini album cover. I mapped out our trip using the arrow in soft brown chalk ink. I further highlighted the arrows with a thin red marker. Since there was plenty of room left on the map, I used the Road Trip stamp to create part of the title. I even mixed in the bracket shapes from the Oversized set of stamps. I stamped in blue and colored in the brackets in scribbly pencil strokes which enhances my road-worn theme.

To start my album I created a page just for journaling about planning our family vacation. Can you tell which elements were created by Little Yellow Bicycle and which were stamped by me?

Look closely! The postage marks and cancellations at the lower right corner of the page were preprinted by Little Yellow Bicycle. By copying the muted shades of brown, green, rust and blue with chalk ink and the Road Trip set I was able to duplicate the look in the upper left corner of the page. At first glance it’s hard to tell them apart, and it really adds a finished look to the page.

I gathered lots of pamphlets and brochures during our vacation, so I simply made a pocket page for my album by folding over a sheet of 12 x 12 matching printed paper. I sealed up the end of the pocket with 5 Gypsies gaffer’s tape and rounded the corners to match the other pages. I stamped the fun suitcase from the Road Trip set, added some details with colored pencils, cut it out and adhered it to my pocket page cluster.
I really love this stamp set! I hope you’ll consider adding it to your collection. No Road Trip project is complete without it!
Happy stamping, Jolene

Jolene….I LOVE what you did with the stamps – imitating LYB’s paper! I’m not really into “Travel” as a theme and wouldn’t have ordered these stamps, until seeing this project. Now I’m sold.
Awesome job with the stamp!!! I’m with Cathy – i just recently did my first layout using “travel” themed papers and embellies…it was new and different for me. it’s a new venture. These stamps are totally ubers!
